Bill replied to the topic Learning more about my family’s genetics in the forum Education 11 months, 2 weeks ago
You share a lot of the same genetics with your family members. This can have a bearing on your later life. For example, certain illnesses or diseases. I do believe there are tests that can be done to see if you or your family are prone to getting a disease.
This can occur when the instructions in a gene changes. Sometimes, there’s no effect. On…[Read more]
Bill replied to the topic Moving + Children = STRESS in the forum Lifestyle 1 year, 1 month ago
Oh dear! I don’t envy you. Been there, done that. Firstly, take it easy. I know it’s stressful, but try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Don’t feel like you have to do everything on your own. You can always get help.
For instance, your spouse or partner is there to help. Sharing that responsibility should make you feel less on edge. As…[Read more]
Bill replied to the topic Buying a used motorcycle… in the forum Shopping 1 year, 2 months ago
Personally I don’t think so. You might feel like you’re getting a good bargain, but as you said maybe that used bike will end up costing you as much as your old one.
I would say it’s best to go with a brand new one. Might cost more, but at least you shouldn’t have any bad surprises.

Touching on what the previous poster said, if you have a family and pets, you can safely say it is going to be a high-traffic household. A matte finish with a wire-brushed look is one way to go, as it can easily hide scratches. A clear grain or high-sheen wood cannot do this.

Athough they do other things of course, I think they can help with m…[Read more]
Bill replied to the topic Do you have any tips to avoid bankruptcy? in the forum Lifestyle 1 year, 3 months ago
I know bankruptcy doesn’t sound fun at all, but it isn’t the end of the world, you know. Of course, it could have some consequences on your credit, but it would allow you to start with a clean slate.
Counselling will help you figure out which option is the best for you, but I just want to point out that bankruptcy is not something you sho…[Read more]

Bill replied to the topic Making ends meet financially… Advice needed! in the forum Lifestyle 1 year, 7 months ago
Asking your family is certainly an option, but it’s not always an available resource for everyone. For example, I’d feel awful asking my aging parents to dip into their retirement funds and shoulder my financial burden. I don’t know if family is the best go-to option when it comes to money matters.

Thanks for stating the obvious, Eliza. I can feel your judgment oozing from my computer screen.

Any former smokers here on OUF? Your boy here wants to kick the habit once and for all, but I lack the motivation and can’t seem to stay away from a cigarette for more than 24 hours. Any success stories out there? What are your tips and tricks?
