Jessica replied to the topic Getting a work permit in Canada in the forum Lifestyle 4 months, 1 week ago
It doesn’t sound straightforward to me. In fact, it sounds like a local person could be able to do the job that I wish to hire my relative to do.
I suppose you are right. Do you have any experience in this matter?

I would like to understand the process involved in getting a work permit. I am living in Canada and I am a Canadian citizen. I have my own business.
I would like to help a relative to come here and work for me. What should I do and what should my relative do? Do both of us have to put in an application or does only one person have to do…[Read more]
Jessica replied to the topic Okay, my shipment got damaged. What do I do? in the forum Shopping 6 months, 1 week ago
Needless to say, you should document everything thoroughly. You should also take photos of it. Not everyone does this, you know. Get into the habit of taking photos. Make sure to het the PRO number as well. This way, you will be able to link any damage to that specific carrier.
Always inspect the shipment and only then sign the proof of…[Read more]

Oh, I thought they come over and do everything.
Who did you use? Were they helpful?

Do you use a home alarm system and are you happy with it? Do you like the service? Is it easy to operate and check things?
I am considering this, but I am a bit of a technophobe. I do live in a pretty decent neighbourhood. I’m not even too keen to install this. My neighbour a few doors down suggested I should. It got me thinking. I’m not good…[Read more]

Thanks for the words of support, Penny! Your explanation was very thorough and helpful. I got a good night of sleep and feel a whole lot better about the process. I’ll go purchase a DNA kit and get started with my daughter. You were right, let’s turn this process into a positive experience for us!

Yeah, we haven’t even taken the test yet and I’m already feeling quite emotional about it. I’m just apprehensive about the idea of my daughter revisiting a past that we’ve left alone for so many years. I don’t think she’ll make any major discoveries either, but who knows what could happen?

Without going into too much detail about my complicated family history, one of our children was adopted from a local orphanage. We don’t know who the parents were. We never cared to find out.
It sounds cliche, but we treated and loved our Rebecca exactly the same as our birth children. The fact that she is adopted has never been an issue for…[Read more]

Oh, thank you all for your advice. I am so angry right now. I will keep you posted. Thanks again.
Yes, I can see that now.
I am also thinking of seeking legal help. This is ridiculous.

My mother lives in a retirement residence. In the last few weeks, she has been having balance problems, dizziness issues and has also fallen, but thankfully, she wasn’t hurt badly. The home is now saying they cannot care for her in the way I want them to.
I asked that they pay a bit more attention to her in view of the situation. The doctors…[Read more]
Jessica replied to the topic Need help: My coworkers are total slobs in the kitchen! in the forum Lifestyle 8 months ago
That’s a good idea, I don’t know if it will be effectice though. Maybe if I can make fun and colourful signs, people will actually look at them and pay attention.
We have hired a janitor who only comes around once or twice a week to empty the trash cans and mop the floor… I don’t think he does more than that, and he’s really not that reliable. I think he’s actually the brother in law of my boss.
I’ll tell my boss about Jan-Pro, I don’t know if he’ll want to hire them but I’ll give it a try. Thank you!
No, we don’t have a dishwasher, just a sink which is always, of course, full of dirty and smelly dishes. I could not tell you how many times I’ve been doing the dishes because no one else would…
Threats or rewards? Yeah I guess that could work, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing this, and I don’t think they would appreciate threats either.

As some of you might know, I’m a little obsessed with cleanliness… Ok, I guess you could say I’m a neat freak! I work hard to keep my home clean and well organized, but when I’m at work I get so frustrated!
I often feel like I’m the only one who knows what cleanliness is, especially in the office kitchen. It’s so messy and gross! I’m alrea…[Read more]
Jessica replied to the topic Best ways to finance a business in the forum Lifestyle 8 months, 1 week ago
I don’t think there is one single best way to finance a business… It all depends on the type of business you want to start, how big you would like it to be, and how much money you will need to get started on the right path.
From what you’re saying about your business project, I think crowdfunding could be a good option for you. You could sta…[Read more]
